International Short Story Day

I didn’t know until just two days ago that today is International Short Story Day. It’s timed to coincide with the shortest day of the year (in the northern hemisphere, of course). It is primarily an observation in the UK, but I don’t think our good friends across the water would object to us joining the celebration.

Proper observation involves reading a short story. Festive drinks and hats are optional but recommended.

What?! Oh, I can’t believe I missed it, though I’m knee-deep in a short story collection, so I observed the occasion in any case.

I’m marking my calendar for next year.
